FAMILY HOME – NICOSIA, CYPRUS
Positioned on a hillside in the Nicosia suburbs our client’s villa has recently been extended and renovated. Its extensive outdoor features take full advantage of a stunning setting, whilst the interior has been designed to create a superb home for family life and entertainment.
What was the client’s brief
The client wanted a stylish high-tech environment with a major focus on audio-visual equipment, together with state of the art lighting. Lifestyle Technologies customised an installation to meet all the client’s specifications – some of which required very inventive solutions.
System Description and how our design meets the Client’s requirements
A Crestron music and video distribution system channels sound and images to eight zones throughout the house and gardens using plasma screens and a combination of satellite and in-ceiling speakers, ‘mushroom’ garden speakers and Russound Rock poolside speakers. Diverse linked sources include a Russound music server, CD player, radio, DVD, satellite and cable TV.
As part of the family entertainment area in the basement, a comfortable home cinema has been created. It features a 106” GrandView motorised projector screen and a Dreamvision projector that combine with the surround sound system to deliver the perfect audio-video combination.
The unique feature of the villa’s veranda is a 50” plasma TV screen which, when not in use, is concealed in the ceiling. Mounted on a custom designed and constructed motorised lift the screen lowers, tilts and swivels through 360º to allow visibility from any part of the veranda, swimming pool, Jacuzzi or garden entertainment area.
A Lutron HomeWorks system controls the lighting, curtains and blinds throughout the ground floor and master bedroom, together with atmosphere lighting in the garden and colour-change lighting effects in the pool.
Audio, video and lighting systems, along with air conditioning, swimming pool and Jacuzzi functions, are all controlled by a Crestron system by means of in-wall and wireless touch panels. Settings can be pre-programmed to create specific ‘scenes’ so that any area of the house or garden can be transformed to help generate a chosen ambiance or mood.
